The IFEEL SPA Interior Design Approach
We approach spa interior design as sensory architecture. Our process works across five dimensions: visual (light, colour, materiality), tactile (texture, surface temperature), acoustic (sound absorption, water sound masking), olfactory (signature scent design), and thermal (ambient temperature variation by zone).
Material Palette Principles
GCC luxury spas: natural stone (travertine, marble, hammam tile), hammered metal accents (brass, copper), organic plaster finishes, custom joinery in walnut or dark oak. Avoid highly reflective surfaces in relaxation zones.
African and island resort spas: locally sourced natural materials (stone, reclaimed timber, woven fibres), open structural elements, indoor-outdoor transitions, earth-tone palettes referencing the local landscape.
Lighting Design for Spas
Lighting is the single most impactful element in creating an emotional spa environment. Specify: warm-white 2700K maximum throughout (3000K only in reception and retail), scene-controlled dimmers in every treatment room, concealed uplighting in aquathermal areas, candle-flame effect LED in relaxation zones, natural light maximised with UV-protective glass.
Scent Architecture
Each zone should have a distinct but harmonious scent profile. Reception: light citrus or green tea. Thermal area: eucalyptus and mint. Treatment corridor: neutral woody base. Relaxation lounge: soft jasmine or oud accord. Retail: the signature product line.
